How long has it been since your last roof inspection? If you do regular roofing inspections on your own, you need to make sure you know what to look out for, especially if you are having trouble with your roof.

While it is important to catch items that cause damage early, it is equally important to find out how to prevent these items from causing damage again. Here are some possible reasons why your roof is experiencing damage, and what you can do to prevent them from causing roofing damage in the future.

1. Incorrect Roofing Installation
We can tell you whether or not your roof was installed the right way, even if it was done by someone else. When a roof is installed incorrectly, there is a high likelihood that problems will arise. In addition, your roof’s life expectancy will be a lot shorter if it isn’t installed correctly.
How To Avoid: Call us for initial installation on your roof!

2. Lack of Maintenance
Routine inspection and regular upkeep is essential for your roofing system. Most problems start off small, but if they go unnoticed they can cause problems that will create serious damage.
How To Avoid: Regularly check your roof, and consider joining our planned maintenance program.

3. Moisture
Water poses a potential threat to your roofing system all year round. Rain, hail, snow, ice, and debris can get under the layers of your roof and cause leaking, rotting, or mold. Standing water on your roof can also create problems if it isn’t quickly removed.
How To Avoid: Remove any noticeable water immediately.

4. Blistering
This is a more common roofing problem. Blisters on a roof are thin, raised areas that form when the sun pushes your roofing material apart. If moisture was not present on the roof, this would not occur.
How To Avoid: Check and dry damp areas. Cool down your roof.

5. Foliage
Tree limbs can pose as a serious threat to your roofing system. Overhanging branches can puncture your roof, or wind can cause loose branches to pierce your roof.
How To Avoid: Trim foliage surrounding your property, and remove any loose foliage from your roof.
